4 Tips on How To Move Forward When Life Is Holding You Back:

After going through my divorce, I learned that if I wanted to move forward and be the best person, and parent for my children, I needed to make some changes to what I was believing, what I was thinking, and what I was doing.

There are 4 bites of wisdom that I put into practice that helped me to succeed – and to this day they continue to help me:

#1) Accept & Forgive Your Past:
Whatever happened before, accept it & forgive yourself and others who may have had a role in you being where you are today. There are no perfect people. People make mistakes. As long as we allow ourselves to get swallowed up by them, we’ll never be able move forward.

#2) Choose To Change:
If you don’t choose to change, either you will repeat the same mistakes over or over, or, you will remain stuck. In order to improve, you must be willing to make a change. It’s time to consider taking a step outside of your comfort zone and to do something more challenging. This creates an opportunity for us to grow – often in ways we never expect!  Decide on what you want to change, and begin taking steps towards making that change NOW, and work on it daily!

#3) Draw a line in the Sand:
Once you begin on your journey, draw a line in the sand and vow to yourself never to go back and cross that line again. Then, create a new line for you to try and jump over! This will create short term milestones for you to celebrate on your way to your big goal, and will help to keep you motivated to continue.

#4) Keep Moving Forward:
When you backslide, don’t give up. Get right back up and get going again. If you believe in a higher power, pray for guidance & wisdom on what direction to go, and strength to persevere forward. Remember, nobody is perfect – this is not about perfection, it’s about progress!

Quitting is guaranteed failure. You must believe, and have a strong faith that you will succeed. Plug into & stay connected with your support system to help get yourself back on track on the hard days.  I recommend getting yourself a Health Coach too!   I have a coach myself, and not only does the coaching accountability help you to stay on track, but often, your eyes will be opened to some new & refreshing perspectives that can be garnered & used to your advantage in moving forward after a backslide!

Hold onto the mindset: That’s where I was, this is where I’m going, and I’m not going back!
